This
article is suggesting that scientists may be on the brink of
changing dirty coal with cleaner gases and have electricity as the
main source. The natural gas could be used in cars, trucks, and ships
as well as houses and other things that use gas. If this was to fall
through, then the economy would be in a lot better of shape as well
as the environment. This would all help the environment because
carbon monoxide is the number one contributor to global warming. It
would be inexpensive to begin because of the recent gas crisis.
A
chief economist for the International Energy Agency states “ a
golden age for gas is not necessarily a golden age for the climate.”.
This quote shares how if the new idea was to fail it may damage many
renewable things like wind turbines and solar panels. This would
happen since the gas crisis is making people uneasy about fossil
fuels and such people will begin just to invest in wind and solar
powered things instead of just paying for gas. This could lead to
people not trying the cleaner fuel for maybe decades.
The
tension in this article is about if people would even bother trying
out the new clean gas. People would probably rather just begin to buy
solar panels and such to conserve energy and be more “green”.
The reason I chose this article is because global warming has been a very large topic in the past few years and when you hear about global issues global warming is one of the bigger ones. I believe it would be terrible to see so many endangered species go extinct. This article connects to what we have been learning about in Biology class because it is about global warming which affects every living organism in the biosphere. Global warming could very easily wipe out entire populations of certain organisms if it gets too hot.
I saw a connection between this article and the “Lorax” movie we watched. I made this connection because although some people are trying to go more green many people do not care too much about the environment. If the idea of the cleaner gas was to go through many people would not really care too much although it could cut the amount of carbon monoxide produced in half. Not many people would be looking for that.
In this image you see a polar bear struggling as its habitat is destroyed. The cause of this is from global warming. Since the world is heating up from the amounts of carbon monoxide and other enviromentaly harmful substances, the polar bear species is now endangered.

I think you did a great job on this article. Global warming is certainly a problem, even though it's getting less hype nowadays. As humans, its our job to keep the pollution level down and try to reverse or fix the problems that are going on now. I found your article very interesting, and you brought up a lot of good points. Good job!
