There are so many rivers and streams and lakes in the United States .
So many that we could not even begin to start to count them. We go swimming in
them, go camping by the side of them but, I bet you don't know that these
rivers actually destroy our environments. On the mainland or the land around
these bodies of water, Carbon Dioxide is generated. Then, after a short time or
a long time, these gases spread into the rivers and then eventually into the
atmosphere. You might ask about how much is being emitted into the
air and the answer would be enough carbon to fuel 3.4 million car trips to the
moon! That is a lot. Some people might say wow that's cool, but
in truth, it is a disaster.
In reality, it
will affect everyone that is in the area of that specific lake or river or
stream. You could even be walking by these bodies of water and just breathe
into the air and you wouldn't even know how much bad things you are taking in.
It also affects a lot of the animals that walk along-side these rivers because
they breathe in the air here. This is pretty much like a lot of other current
events in the news that have to deal with the environment in the way that it
affects all of the people in the area.
This definitely
relates to the Lorax because these gases are hurting the environment badly and
it needs to stop. Although, in this special case, it is not anybody's fault
that these gases are in the air. (Unless they are driving cars here 24/7) But
either way, the environment is being harmed by these gases and soon, these
places won't be a place to live or even to visit since there is just so many
gases. This has been happening for a long time because these rivers
have been here for the longest time as well.
Personally this
article caught my eye because I did not know much about the environment and
ecosystems/communities of a river and I wanted to learn more. Also, I think
that it is horrible that these gases are destroying this area and we cant do
anything about it until we learn more. Also, I hope that we can continue to try
to do something about this current issue and save the environment. I will
definitely be looking out for more info on this subject and how to help the
situation.
